Rihanna

Rihanna Fenty was born on the 20th of February 1988 in Saint Michael, Barbados. She is the first female from Barbados to receive a Grammy Award. She is the daughter of Ronald Fenty and Monica Fenty. In 2004, she was crowned Miss Combermere in a local beauty pageant. She got her big break at the age of 15, when a friend had introduced her to a music producer, Evan Rogers who was on vacation on the island. Roger and his partner recorded Rihanna’s material and sent it to many recording companies. A copy had reached Jay-Z, who eventually signed her to his Def. Jam label. She released her debut album in 2005 called Music of the sun. the album received platinum certification for selling over 2 million units worldwide and Rihanna promoted by touring as Gwen Stefani’s opening act. Less than eight months after the release of her debut album, Rihanna released her second album, A Girl Like Me, in 2006. the album went to the U.S. charts at number five. Rihanna has received Grammy nominations like Record of the Year, Best rap/sung Collaboration, Beat R&B performance etc. She obtained 2 Grammy’s Song of the Year and Best R&B Song.
