Akon

Akon was born on the 16th of April 1973 in St Louis, Missouri. He lived in Senegal, West Africa and went to high school in the United States. His family had returned to Dakar, Senegal in West Africa when he was young and lived there till he was 7 years old, when he went to the United States.. Akon’s father, Mor Thiam, was a well known jazz percussionist and his mother, Kine Thiam, was a dancer. Akon was influenced by his parents and that led his early years of love for music. He grew up in New Jersey and started singing and performing as a teenager. He turned his attention to music business by making home recordings and becoming friends with Wyclef Jean from the Fugees. He has collaborated with many musicians and has released a lot of hit albums combining his R&B vocals with Hip-Hop.
