Dwayne Douglas Johnson (also known as
“The Rock”) was born on the 2nd of
May 1972 in Hayward, California. He was born to a professional wrestling
family. He is the son of a wrestler, Rocky Johnson and the grandson of a
professional wrestler, Peter “High Chief” Fanene Maivia. He grew up watching his father in the
ring, wrestling. Dwayne had no interest in following in their footsteps, so he
played college football at the University of Miami. He made a great success,
however he got a back injury which had cost him a spot in the NFL. He then left
football and turned to wrestling. After a few matches including a tag team win
with Bart Sawyer, the WWF had signed him under the name Flex Kavana.
After a year, he joined the Nation of Domination, where he took over its
leadership and then started calling himself THE ROCK. He has famously feuded
with wrestler Steve Austin and won the WWF heavyweight title 6 times. Johnson
had parlayed his wrestling fame into a film career, where he had appeared in The
Mummy and Tooth
Fairy
