Willard Christopher Smith Jr. (known as Will Smith) was born on the 25th of September in 1968 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His father, Willard C. Smith, was a refrigeration company owner and his mother, Caroline, was a school board employee. He attended a strict Catholic high school even though his family had a Baptist faith. He had the nickname, Prince. He started rapping when he was 12 years old. When he was 16 years old he became friends with a DJ called Jeff Townes, which he met at a party. Then, the duo DJ Jeff Townes and Fresh Prince was born. They started making music and started rapping together. Their first single, Girls Ain’t Nothing But Trouble, was a huge hit in 1986. Their debut album, Rock the House, was on the Billboard Top 200. This huge success made Will Smith a rich millionaire before he was even 18. He soon crossed over into acting and NBC signed Smith to play a street-smart kid from Philadelphia, in sitcom.
