John Felix Anthony Cena was born on the
23rd of April 1977, in West Newbury,
Massachusetts. He is the second child of John, Sr and Carol Cena. He has 4 brothers. His
father was a wrestling announcer and businessman. Cena would always watch
wrestling and stay glued to the TV watching his wrestling heroes. When he was
younger he showed his passion for sports and working out. When he was 15, he
was a regular gym rat and after he graduated he went to Springfield College in
Massachusetts to study physiology and to prove his wroth on a football field.
He had turned himself into a Division III All-American offensive Lineman and
team captain. In 2000, John left Bay State despite his father’s wishes, trying
to find a new life in California as a body builder. It was really tricky for
him as he had a really small budget to get across country and get settled. He
then started to fold towels and clean toilets at Gold’s Gym in Venice Beach. It
was in Cena’s luck
that he had a conversation with a wrestler at Gold’s, who had encouraged him to
take classes at Ultimate Pro Wrestling (UPW). He won the UPW title in 2000 and
in 2001 he signed a contract to work at Ohio Valley Wrestling. In 2002 he won
the OVW heavyweight title and in June 2002 he made his WWE debut. Two years
later, he won the United States Championship and after that he won a lot more
wins and titles.
