Elvis Aron Presley (who changed Aron to
the bible version, Aaron) was born on
the 8th January 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi.
Elvis was supposed to be a twin however his brother Jesse Garon
(also spelt Jessie) was stillborn. Elvis Presley grew up to be one of the
biggest rock ‘n’ roll names in music industry. He is known as the rock ‘n’ roll
King. His family had very little money and had to moved from many places a lot.
He was deeply devoted to his parents, especially his mother, Gladys, and he was
raised to have a strong faith and belief in God. When he attended Assembly of
Gospel Church with his parents, the gospel music had become and influence to
him. He got his first guitar at the age of 10 and he got his first taste of
musical success when he won a talent show in a high school in Memphis. He
graduated in 1953 and then worked a number of jobs while he was still pursuing
his musical dream. He cut his first demo record at a place which then became
known as Sun
Studio.
After a short while, Sam Philips, who was the record label owner decided to
take Elvis under his wing. He then started to tour and perform hoping to get
his big break. In 1954, he released his first single, ‘That’s
all right’. In
1955, he started to get his own fans and in that year he signed with RCA
Records. After that, his career started to take off.
